Launch vs. Releases
Launch vs. Releases.
Goals vs. Habits.
Storm vs. Waves.

Launches are hard. The expectations are high. They take time. Lots of prep work involved. The longer they takes, the bigger they get. They compound. So does your fear of failure. And rightfully so. A lot is at stake. But if you pull it off, the reward is high enough. At least for a few days, you get the spotlight. All eyes on you. Everyone is tweeting about you. Numbers are increasing fast, graphs are pointing up high. You made it. You pulled off the perfect storm.

But then, a few weeks go by and the numbers start to fall. Fewer people tweet about it. Things start to slow down. They start forgetting you. You start scoping the next Storm. You miss the rush.

On the other side of the scale, we have Releases.
Releases are easy. They take less time. Expectations are lower. Almost no prep work is involved. You just hit Push, when it's done. They are predictable. The tighter the loops, the better the results. The longer you do it, the smoother they get. They are the perfect waves.

But if one day, you miss an update, they'll remember you. They reach out to you. They miss you. They want to hear from you.

When you are goal-driven, it's easier to get burned out by your own high expectations. But when you become routine driven, you start enjoying the process more and the work becomes more meaningful.
